Latest News About Study VISA for Pakistani Students in UK
In 2024, there have been significant updates regarding UK study visas for Pakistani students, particularly following policy changes by the UK government. Despite some challenges, the UK remains a popular destination for Pakistani students, with nearly 34,000 study visas issued by mid-2024, marking a 17% year-on-year increase. This made Pakistan the third-largest source of students for the UK.
However, stricter visa regulations, especially the ban on bringing dependants for most courses, have impacted international student numbers. The ban, effective from January 2024, caused many prospective students, especially those with families, to reconsider the UK as a destination. Over 3,500 students withdrew their visa applications following this change, indicating a demand decline for UK education among students from countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. In contrast, Pakistani students continue to pursue education in the UK in significant numbers

On a positive note, the majority of Pakistani students applying for UK study visas remain successful, with a reported 97% approval rate(DAWN). Despite new visa challenges, the UK's post-study work route remains intact under the new Labour government, ensuring that students still have the opportunity to stay and work after completing their studies(Times Higher Education (THE)).
